5K "All Things February" Concert

Jackson had his first school concert this month - February 4th actually.  Because of the number of kids in the school, they break up the concerts for each grade level and do them at different times in the year.  So different from my small school where we had all-school concerts for Christmas and in the spring both.  The theme of the 5K concert was "All Things February".

Jackson had been practicing all his songs at home... although he never really wanted us to hear them.  I would catch him singing them in his room as he played Legos and as soon as I would ask him to sing them for me, he would freeze up.  So I wasn't sure how the concert was going to go for him.

It was a great concert... It was one of those proud parent moments.  They had a cute little video before the concert started that had pictures of all the kids set to music... so super sweet!  As the 5Kers took the stage, we could see Jackson looking for us.  He started waving to someone on the other side of the gym (which we later found out was Mrs. Seraphine, his teacher from last year.  She has a 5Ker too.)  Then he quickly found us, which surprised me.  But he waved to us a couple times and gave us big smiles!  My heart was overflowing! (Might have been partly due to the pregnancy hormones too!)  The first song they sang was "You Are My Sunshine" which quickly brought tears to my eyes.  Morgan would always sing that to me and Carter when I was expecting him.  And I could see Jackson singing his heart out in it, so it made my heart sing even more!  Loved it!  Tom just chuckled and gave me a squeeze.

Jackson's class also did a "solo" song, "Big Bunch, a Little Bunch" and they had some actions to it.  As he walked past the microphone, he was belting it out and the microphone caught him.  It was so cute - the whole audience laughed because you could hear him so well!  Again a big smile on my face!!

The class eventually left the stage and came down on the gym floor and sang "Born in the USA" - loved that one... made me want to sing too!

So proud of you Jackson!  You did a great job!!
