Our Apple Crop
Towards the end of September, we finally picked our apple tree. The apples were starting to fall off, so we needed to get them off before we lost them. Thankfully, we were able to get a bushel and a half off our sickly-looking apple tree. Beautiful, big, red/green apples that are the perfect combination of sweet and tart. Love that thing! That equated to 12 gallon sized Ziplocks full of cut up apples for our freezer. We'll use them for pies and crisps probably. We had hoped to make some applesauce with them, but didn't have the time right then to start cooking and canning. Hopefully we'll still get in a trip to the apple orchard (love the Elegant Farmer!) and be able to get some apples for canning.
