Sunshine School

Today was the day - Jackson's first day of preschool! He was so excited. He woke up right at 7 AM and was ready to go! He came down for breakfast - eating two helpings of Life cereal. Then he headed upstairs and got himself dressed - even put his PJs into the laundry basket without me even asking. It was a terrific morning! We took the typical first-day-of-school pictures and got in the car. We were about 15 minutes early (so typical of me), but that gave us time to take a few more pictures at the Y to document it all. The one good thing about sending him to preschool at the Y is that he is so comfortable with the place - he walked right in and marched his way to his class room - a boy with a mission! When the teachers were ready, he headed into the classroom, hung up his jacket and backpack, put his shoes in his cubby (even spelling out his name on his cubby), then headed to the table to write his name. Every morning they have the kids start by writing their name twice in their name book - first tracing it, but by the end of the year they should be able to do it themselves. I got to stay for the name book part to assist him, but then it was time for me to say goodbye. He didn't even bat an eye as I left - it was "see you later Momma!" and he was off to doing his thing with his new classmates. Pretty cute and I love his independent spirit...but still hard to believe that he is becoming a big boy. So two hours and 15 minutes later, I pick him up and he is all ready - shoes, jacket, and backpack all on and done all by himself! He immediately started to tell me that he had the "Letter Bag" in his backpack and that we needed to fill it up with things that start with the letter "B". Each class they do the Letter Bag, with the letter changing each time - and he was the lucky first one to be selected for it. So Thursday he will get to tell all his classmates the "B" items we put in the bag. Yay for school!!

Say "Cheese!"

Showing off his backpack

Action shot - really ready!

Okay - I'll pose for one more.

On the front step with his sister - I think she thought she was going to school too.

A little sun in the eyes, but still a nice picture in front of the house.

We're there - he ran for the door!

But he did pause to take another picture.

Outside his classroom

Sitting down to write his name,

finding the perfect pencil,

and one last cheesy smile before saying goodbye!

Here's the empty letter bag - now to fill it up!
