We were fortunate enough to score tickets to the Steelers vs. Green Bay tickets on the 22nd at Lambeau Field. We were all so excited to go, but as the day approached, we realized that it wasn't going to be ideal conditions - ones that the kids and I would likely not enjoy. Plus it was probably better for our budget to only have one ticket expense. So Tom sold his other three to friends who joined him on a perfectly snowy December day. He left at 8 AM for a 3:30 PM game. Because of the weather, they didn't get to Green Bay until 1:00 PM... a longer drive than usual. He had a great day and was lucky enough to celebrate a Steeler victory!
Then we started the preparations for Christmas and post-Christmas visitors. I got all my grocery shopping done Monday in a very busy Pick N Save. Jackson also had a doctor appointment. And I started and completed all my wrapping on Monday night after the kids went to bed (3 hours worth). I had my shopping done weeks earlier, but procrastinated my wrapping. Remind me not to do that next year.
Then Christmas Eve we relaxed during the day, went to Christmas mass at 6:30 to celebrate baby Jesus, and came home to watch Star Wars (the kids received the entire saga as an early Christmas gift from Tom and me). If you didn't know... Anything Star Wars related has become major in our house. Both kids love it! It was probably a bad idea to let the kids stay up until 11 PM watching the movie, but it was great at the time!
Then Christmas morning!!! Yay!! Santa came!! Jackson came into our room at 7:30 and asked if we could get up. He then went and woke his sister in just the sweetest manner... trying so hard not to upset her. But Morgan woke in unusually happy form - I guess because it was Christmas! We rushed downstairs and discovered the treasures. Highlights from Santa this year: Hockey Skates for Tom and the kids, Lego Star Wars game for the Wii, a Spirograph, Jenga, and a Barbie with a horse. After going through all gifts and opening each toy, we enjoyed a yummy roast for dinner and then Skyped with my family back in Nebraska to open our gifts with them. So thankful for technology to be able to share that with them even though we aren't home.

| A new ornament - Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz! Jackson's new ornament was a Millennium Falcon built out of Legos (didn't get a pic at the time) and Tom's new ornament was a little stone with 26.2 printed on it to commemorate his marathon completion (again missed a picture of it). |
Thursday came and it was time to really prepare. House cleaning and prepping meals was on the list for the morning, then Tom's family started arriving that afternoon. We had a great time with Granny, Pup Pup, Uncle Mikey, and soon-to-be-Aunt Ashlyn visiting for four days. We enjoyed Christmas gifts with them, lots of food, a wonderful dinner out, first-time skating, and sledding. (More to come on the skating and sledding in a later post.) So glad they were all able to visit us and share part of the holiday.
So it was a busy week but a great one! Now it is time to start taking down the Christmas decoration... such a sad thought and a bit exhausting to think of too.
