Whirlwind Weeks, Calm Seas Ahead

What can I say? I have been such a slacker when it comes to our Blog in the last weeks/month. Every time I think I have minute to give an update, something else comes into play (i.e. the kids wake up from a nap, I have more boxes to unpack, phone calls to make, quotes to get for exterior painters, and on and on). So I'm finally taking a few moments while I let the kids watch "Finding Nemo" to try to get this first blog from Wisconsin written.

I have lots of pictures to post and hopefully the captions will tell the story. I'll start with our last days in Snoqualmie and Washington, work our way through our cross-country trip, and then finish up with some things from our new home.

Enjoy!

Friday, August 6, 2010 - Laurie, Abby, & Jackson at our favorite spot - Ana's Mexican. Our last meal with our friends, the Moyers.

Tuesday, August 10, 2010 - Jackson & Morgan pose by the boxes - this was the morning of their last day of school.

Tuesday, August 10, 2010 - More boxes as the truck got loaded.

Our loved patio that Tom and I built when we first moved in.

Loading up the truck... can you believe that four families' belongings were on this truck?!

Here's the inside.

Goodbye Imagination Station - the kids' school - we love you all!!

Poor Madi - She did great on the trip, but I'm sure she wasn't having much fun.

Our cute Morgan - cheesy grins these days.

Tom Closed on the house on Monday, August 16, 2010. We didn't get the keys until Tuesday though. Then Mom, Dad, Jackson, Morgan, Madi, and I took off for the house on Wednesday.  All our things were delivered in the moving truck on Thursday, August 19.

Here is the new house... one of the first orders of business is to paint that hideous trim. Who pairs yellow vinyl siding with peach colored cedar trim? Already have quotes to get the peach covered up. Hope to have it done in a few weeks before winter comes.

Jackson helps Tom "screw" in the blinds.

Now Morgan helps too.

Since we have no couch in the family room, the kids veg on some pillows. Can't wait for the new couch to get delivered.

The entry living room... (will be painted soon)

The dining room... (We've changed the curtains in here since I took this picture)

The entry hallway...We just got it painted, so here is a couple before and afters. (We have LOTS of painting to do in this house!)

My favorite purchase thus far for the new house!! Who thought laundry could be fun? And look at the great counter that Tom put in for me - perfect for folding laundry!

The empty family room...

The kitchen...

The deck and the pond...

Our bedroom... I was still putting away lots of stuff when I took the picture...

Our closet... that came falling down on me. Ugh... another story.

Jackson's room... (I think he misses Morgan being in the room with him though. He has yet to sleep through the night. He comes into our room two or three times a night "scared".)

Morgan's room... also needing a painting...

Our little princess!

The basement...pool table is up but we have some work to do down there. I think this will be a winter project for Tom (or multiple winter projects!).

More of the basement... going to love the extra storage that we didn't have before.

Morgan found a pair of my shoes as I unpacked one day.

Even though we have never been to Disney World or Disney Land, they have Mickey ears. We got these from my "work dad" Mike Langan a few years ago and I uncovered them during the unpacking. The kids hammed it up for the camera with them on! Miss you Mike and all our friends in the Seattle Sales Office.

Found one of Morgan's art projects from Imagination Station during the unpacking - so she wanted to put it on and pose in it. We sent the picture to Teacher Gina. We miss Imagination Station so much - the teachers, the kids' friends!

And our family room couch was finally delivered yesterday... well at least part of it. The store miss-ordered one of the sectional pieces in the wrong fabric. So it has gone back and we will have to wait another 2 to 3 weeks for it to be delivered. That is the 2nd thing for the house that we have ordered and it was delivered incorrectly (Our washer and dryer were delivered miss-matched as well - one blue, one white. So we had to wait two days for that to be corrected.)

Finally a few video clips of the kids from our last days in Snoqualmie...

So there you have it. I am a little disappointed in myself though. I got so caught up in tackling the unpacking that I completely forgot to take pictures as we moved into the house and were unpacking the first couple days. It felt like there were boxes everywhere - I guess because there were boxes everywhere. It would have been nice to capture some of that chaos.  So it goes.  I'll be sure to post more pictures of the house as we tackle more projects. We have some work to do to make it "Our Home". Looking forward to the challenge!

(And my apologies to those of you that look at our blog and are my friends on Facebook... you have already seen most of these pictures!)
