With the house on the market, we have to vacate any time the house needs showing or that there is an open house. And with our time winding down, we are using these free moments to take in some sights around Puget Sound.
This past Sunday, we headed down to the Ballard Locks which connect Lake Union with the Sound. Tom had been through these before, helping a friend take his boat through, but I had never even seen them. I really enjoyed it and I know the kids had fun seeing the boats and the water. Madi, on the other hand, had a few anxious moments. She didn't want to go over the walkways on the locks. For being a bird/water dog, she sure is afraid of the water. Tom finally had to carry her over one of the walkways, and then she finally got comfortable with the area. Silly dog!
Then last night, we headed over to our local attraction - the Snoqualmie Falls. I always love seeing the falls, and this time was really neat since they had just recently completed some renovations to the observation and park area. Snoqualmie Falls, a 270 foot waterfall, is one of Washington state's most popular scenic attractions. They estimate that more than 1.5 million visitors come to the Falls every year. As the crow flies, we are only about half a mile from this amazing natural beauty - definitely something I'll miss seeing!
