Merry Christmas everyone! We hope your holiday has been a blessed one. Despite being away from our families, we had a wonderful Christmas with the kids at home. And based on the weather forecasts, I'm actually thankful that we weren't traveling this year. If you've forgotten about our woes from Christmas 2008, go back and read the blog titled "Planes, Trains & Automobiles, The Sequel". I haven't seen the pictures yet, but one of the worst snow storms hit Nebraska this past week - Everyone was stuck inside for Christmas due to snow drifted and impassable roads. I was thankful that my sister's family made it to my parents' house before the worst hit and my brother made it back to Nebraska as well, though a couple days later than planned.
Our Christmas was relatively uneventful. We went to the early Christmas Eve mass at 4:00 PM - the church was packed with every seat in the main church and the overflow hall taken. I can't say we got much out of the service with both kids being unruly, but we made it! We got the kids to bed after a little dinner, and then we went to work playing Santa. The kids woke up late Christmas morning (a nice bonus for Tom and I), but Jackson was quick to get downstairs to see what had happened from the night before - Had Santa ate his cookies? He was in awe of the presents... heading straight for a new train table and set courtesy of Granny and Pup Pup. We pried him away long enough to get some breakfast, and then we set to the task of opening gifts. It was a long process, but we made it through. Jackson was content playing with whatever gift he had just opened or going back to the trains. Morgan surprisingly liked the whole unwrapping process and was doing good opening a few presents too. They quickly tuckered out and went for naps... leaving Tom and I to open the remaining gifts, some of which we had just wrapped the night before. Which left us questioning, why we had even wrapped them in the first place! Oh well! The kids woke up refreshed and ready to start playing again. Jackson played with his new Legos from Uncle Jeff on the picnic table he got from Grandma & Grandpa Knudsen. And Morgan enjoyed her new clothes, dolls, and toys. It was a wonderful Christmas - one we will never forget!
