Grandma & Grandpa's Visit

My Mom and Dad came to visit us this last week - getting here on the 4th and then heading home yesterday.  It was so great to see them and we are so appreciative of all their help (a little deck staining and a lot of kid watching)!  When we found out that we got tickets to the Dave Matthews Band concerts a few months ago, we knew we needed to make arrangements for someone to watch the kids.  So the concerts were a good reason to get Grandma Tina and Grandpa Dennis out here.

We did get to do some fun things even though it has been ridiculously hot.  The 4th we stayed home and grilled.  It didn't even seem like the 4th of July though... burn bans were in place so no fireworks in the neighborhood.  On the 5th, we took in a Brewers game (at about 105 degrees).  It was fun, but we didn't even sit in our seats since they were in the direct sun.  The tickets were from one of Tom's work suppliers (same seats we had before), so we missed out on sitting in some great seats.  But the seats also came with passes to one of the air conditioned club sections.  So we spent the game there - on one of the outside decks that was in the shade and still had some air conditioning blowing on us.  We left after the 7th Inning Stretch...fun day, but just isn't the same watching the game from the club seats and in scorching heat.

A hot one at the ball park!
Posing with Bernie Brewer!

Friday was uneventful, just heading to the DMB concert that evening (more on that in another post).  And Saturday, our friends Bob and Lynn came up to see Mom and Dad.  They all went to dinner while Tom and I went to the second night of the DMB concerts.  I think the kids had a great time getting Grandma and Grandpa to themselves for two evenings.

Sunday, we dragged ourselves out of bed to get to church (we are not used to being out until 1 AM and 2 AM two nights in a row).  After church, we grabbed 5 Guys for lunch and headed to the Miller Brewery tour.  Mom, Dad, and I had done it before when I had lived in Milwaukee some 10 years ago, but Tom had never done it.  It was a fun way to spend the afternoon!  And surprisingly, the kids enjoyed it too - they are still talking about the "ghost of Fredrick Miller" who they saw on the tour.

Then Sunday night, Mom and Dad treated us to a great anniversary dinner at the Golden Mast restaurant that overlooks Okauchee Lake.  It was delicious! Then home for dessert (strawberries, angel food cake, and Cool Whip) on the deck and a little bike riding!

Celebrating 7 years of wedded bliss!
Jackson wanted to take a picture of us kissing...
And then he wanted a "mean faces" picture.  Lovely, huh?
The guys biked, while Morgan rode and Mom and I walked Madi.  It was
such a pleasant evening outside Sunday night.

It was a great few days with Mom and Dad.  Wish they could have stayed a bit longer.  We are looking forward to seeing you again!!  Thanks Mom and Dad!  Love you both bunches!
